MAINEiacs drop one to Remparts 8 - 1

OFFICIAL LEWISTON MAINEiacs GAME WRAP
The Lewiston MAINEiacs got off to a nice start last weekend, picking up two straight wins against the Victoriaville Tigres. However, the winning streak came to an end on Friday night, when Lewiston ran into the Quebec Remparts. Quebec scored once in the first period, before lighting the lamp seven times in the second, en route to an 8-1 win at the Premiere Tech Centre in Riviere-du-Loup, QC.

The Remparts scored the lone goal of the first period, as Patrick Walsh connected on a power play goal from Frederick Roy and Mirko Hoefflin. The tally came with 1:37 left in the period, giving the visitors some momentum to use going into the second.

40 seconds into the middle frame, Quebec netted a second power play goal, as Matt Brown found the back of the net. Cameron Critchlow brought the MAINEiacs within one on a goal from Christophe Lalonde at the 1:31 mark, but the Remparts stormed back with six straight goals to end the period. Maxime Gravel and Olivier Hinse scored 14 seconds apart, before Tomas Filippi (2), Mathieu Lavallee, and Ryan Bourque gave Quebec an 8-1 lead after two.

Lewiston's Tyler Piercy and Quebec's Derek Clavet kept the two squads off of the scoreboard in the third, as the Remparts cruised to victory.

Louis Domingue and Nicholas Champion were the goaltenders of record. Domingue made 13 saves on 14 shots for the win, while Champion stopped 15 of 20 shots in the loss.

The MAINEiacs and Remparts will play their second game in as many nights on Saturday, as the two clubs travel to the Ancienne-Lorette Arena in Ancienne-Lorette, QC.
