Former Black Bears Nyquist, House rack up more honors

The honors for University of Maine men's ice hockey players Gustav Nyquist (Malmo, Sweden) and Tanner House (Cochrane, Alberta) continued on Wednesday. Nyquist was named to the 2010-2011 New England Men's Division I All-Star Team for the second year in a row. House earned the Frank Jones Award as the Best Defensive Forward.

Nyquist earned a spot on the Hockey East First Team and was also named one of the 10 finalists for the 2011 Hobey Baker Award.

Nyquist saw action in all 36 games for the Black Bears. He scored 18 goals and added 33 assists for finish with 51 points. He led Maine in scoring for the third year in a row. Nyquist had six power play goals and a pair of short handed tallies.

Nyquist, who last week signed a professional contract with the Detroit Red Wings, finished his career ranked tied for 17th on Maine's all-time scoring list with 50 goals and 94 assists for 144 career points.

House was named the Best Defensive Forward in Hockey East this year as well. A two-year captain, he saw action in 35 games and scored 10 goals and dished out 25 assists for 35 points this season. He finished a +13 in Hockey East league games this season.

House recently signed a professional contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
