The Buffalo Sabres re-assigned rookie forward Luke Adam to the Portland Pirates today.
Adam returns after his third recall of the season. The 20 year-old St. John’s, Newfoundland native enjoyed an eight-game stretch with the Sabres in which he collected his first NHL goal and assist. In 10 games this season with the Sabres Adam registered two points and eight minutes in penalties.
Adam returns to the Pirates where he sits third in team scoring with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points in 17 games. Despite missing 10 games while on NHL recall, the 6-foot-2 forward still ranks sixth in AHL rookie scoring and his 11 goals are tied for fourth most among first-year players.
In another roster move, the Pirates released Justin Bowers from his tryout agreement. The veteran forward, who was returned to Greenville in the ECHL, played three games without registering a point.
