OFFICIAL MAINEiacs GAME WRAP
For the second straight night, the Quebec Remparts used an offensive outburst to get the best of the Lewiston MAINEiacs. After scoring seven in the second period on Friday, Quebec found the back of the net four times in the third period on Saturday, erasing three separate deficits for a 6-4 win.
The MAINEiacs got off to a nice start, lighting the lamp twice in the opening stanza. Jess Tanguy started the scoring at the 7:24 mark, netting an unassisted tally. Later in the period, Samuel Carrier connected on a power play goal, with assists going to Tanguy and Francis Beauvillier.
In the second period, the Remparts scored twice, tying the game at two. The first goal came early, as Matthew Brown scored from Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Brendan Duke at 2:29. Midway through the frame, Audy-Marchessault got a goal of his own, scoring from Ryan Bourque and Mirko Hoefflin.
Early in the third period, Lewiston regained the lead, as Cameron Critchlow picked up his second goal in as many games. The assists went to Antoine Houde-Caron and Ian Saab. That lead lasted for just 39 seconds, as Quebec evened things up on a goal by Alex Rioux.
Five minutes later, it was almost like a replay occurred, as Jess Tanguy's second of the night put the MAINEiacs ahead, 4-3. 12 seconds later, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault's second of the game tied the score at four. The tying goal gave the Remparts some momentum, as Mirko Hoefflin and Olivier Hinse put the home team ahead by a pair.
Louis Domingue picked up the win for the second night in a row, making 22 saves on 26 shots. Andrey Makarov suffered the loss, allowing five goals on 18 shots in relief of Jordan Kennedy. Kennedy continued his strong training camp between the pipes, stopping 12 of the 13 shots he faced.
The MAINEiacs' next preseason game will take place on Thursday night at 6:00, as Lewiston will play a pair of games against the Moncton Wildcats. The location of Thursday's game will be the Red Ball Internet Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.
